Here we go...

I have been mulling over the idea of starting a blog for quite awhile now.  I saw a book someone made from their blog and really that is what sold me on the idea.  I tend to resist jumping off the cliff when everyone else does.  I guess it goes back to the lectures from my mom and dad. Whenever I wanted to do something with my friends that was the "in" thing to do, my parents always pulled out the old follow the crowd card and of course I didn't want to jump off the cliff because everyone else was.  So, back when blogging became the "in" thing to do, I resisted. Things have changed. I am not a writer. I don't like to journal, scrapbook, or anything like that.  However, I think this might be a way for me to do both, make it into a book and pass it on. Now, mind you, I have always had issues with putting my thoughts into words.  So if you join me in this blogging journey, please read the following disclaimer.

I'm glad that you are interested in my blog, however, please be aware that you might not ever read anything of great significance.  I write like I think, and its not always in complete sentences or grammatically correct.  So if you can handle it, welcome.

With that being said, here we go.  I promise to learn more as I go and improve the appearance of this blog.  But for now.  This is what you get.

  1. I'm excited that you've started a blog, Lara! I love reading friends' blogs (although, I haven't posted on my own in over a year). And, I look forward to reading your thoughts. By the way...grammar is highly overrated! :)

  5. i have a spelling error in my most recent post. i just caught it. 24 hours later. i am a stickler and i still publish with mistakes all the time. sometimes i go back and fix it because i am prideful. sometimes i think "whatever." www.blurb.com is a fabulous book company. i use it for albums for photography clients and they also do blog books. FYI. :) happy blogging.

my advice for people wanting to come to your blog: you need a decent dose of either honesty or go heavy on the pictures. my own husband won't read a word a write- though some folks like my writing- but he always is interested if i include pics.

  6. Staci, I love your layout. I don't like being restricted to the center space but don't know enough yet to change it. What format do you use? How do you get your pics so big and awesome? BTW, I love your writing, one of the reasons I decided to try this.

  7. Lara! I am so glad you are here! Any time you left me a comment I would faithfully check to see if you had a blog, but nothin' Then, I checked my google analytics today and there you were! Hooray!

I can't wait to see how you work out this ideal audiology job at a not ideal time! I feel excited and anxious for you! I'd be more than happy to have your littlest play over here anytime!!

P.S. I love that you don't necessarily "think" in grammatically correct terms :)

  8. Lara, I can tell you how to do the big pictures, but you would have to change your layout. I have spent embarrassing numbers of hours reading online tutorials about how to go in and change the html of the layout.

it is a nasty piece of business for me who knows nothing about html. lots of mistakes.

the best way to get your hands dirty is to a) start with the layout on blogger minima stretch. you can't use cutest blog on the block stuff if you want to mess with the width of your writing/picture space.

i wish i could tell you exactly what website tutorials i used, but linked on my blog under "fun reading a time suckage" i have a few websites i've used to help me change html on my blog. i'd start there.

i wish i could be more helpful but it was one of those "change it once or twice and now i no longer have the brain cells to remember how i did it. i'd have to look it back up again.

if you do manage to get your layout wide enough, i will let you know how i get the pics big. let me know if you have any other questions. :)
